2019 Guber: Akwa Ibom Gov, Udom Emmanuel's Family Surrenders To Akpabio's Candidate



A onetime Governorship aspirant in the state, Bishop Samuel Akpan says the family of the incumbent Governor Udom Emmanuel has withdrawn their support for their son in the 2019 Governorship election.

Bishop Akpan said this on Thursday while addressing a solidarity
rally in Ini.

Akpan who hails from Onna, the country home of Governor Emmanuel announced that cousins of the Governor had intimated him of their resolve to withdraw their support for their brother and handover same to the APC candidate, Obong Nsima Ekere.

Akpan also sought the permission of the organizers to give the floor to the said cousins of Governor Emmanuel to make their declaration publicly.

Addressing the rally, Mr. Tony Ekwere, a native of Awa Attai who described himself as Governor Udom Emmanuel's cousin declared that himself alongside 19 other cousins of the Governor have decided to support Obong Nsima Ekere as the next Governor of Akwa Ibom.

He said their decision was premised on Governor Udom Emmanuel's abysmal performance and neglect of even members of his family.

Mr Ekwere who said they decided to vote for Mr Emmanuel in 2015 because he was recommended to him by Chief Godswill Akpabio whom he said they hold in high esteem have also decided to withdraw their support since he disappointed badly.

Below are some of the Governor's cousins, Ekwere presented at the rally: Uwem Thomas, Mathew Akpan, Udo Udofot Nathaniel, Akwaowo Okon James, Eka Ani, Ikpe Sunday Bob, Sam, Umoh Friday, Emmanuel Ekong, Ubong Thomas, Daniel Bassey, Udo Akpan Bassey, Monday Akpan Henry.
