Anambra Born Model, Biana, Wins 1st Miss Arts Nigeria Beauty & Empowerment Reality Show

 

 

The 1st Miss Arts Nigeria Beauty and Empowerment Reality Show 2022 has ended with an Anambra indigene, Biana Adaeze Oranu, crowned as the winner.

 

Queen Biana Oranu also known as Angel is a 20 year old native of Abate, Idemiri North LGA in Anambra State, who resides in Lagos. She’s a model under the management of FIC Models.

Angel is a reserved lady who during her stay in camp during the reality show was giving her best to every activity, she earned the interest of the judges and the crowd at the grand finale, hence, got her cumulative score rise above other contenders on the show inspite of recording low marks through voting.

 

The show which is aptly called MANBERS ’22 is an empowerment and beauty reality show  aimed at empowering the Nigeria girl-child through the beauty of arts and skills acquisition. It is by all means an avenue for the Nigerian girl to showcase and put to good use her creative talents as a tool for promoting national unity through promotion of the nation’s vast cultural heritage.

MANBERS is a brainchild of Oshodi Arts & Culture Gallery Foundation, a foundation owned by Oshodi Arts Gallery, reputed as the largest Arts collection centre in Nigeria.

 

30 finalists were camped for 14 days in Lagos to embark on a journey of skills acquisition, promotion of the Nigerian cultural diversity and building unity and cordial inhabitation.

During the camping, the 30 finalists had myriad activities as they worked together in groups named after legendary amazons in Nigeria history, Ladi Kwali, Margaret Ekpo, Queen Moremi, Queen Amina, Queen Nana Asma’u, and Flora Nwapa.

 

Every group is saddled with different tasks to measure and inculcate the spirit of teamwork and cooperation.

 

Also, to achieve the objective of the show which is to make the Nigerian girl-child independent, the contestants were taken through 6 skills, Make Up, photography, Batik, painting, catering, and social media marketing.

 

The ladies had a lot of fun in camp while they played games such as puzzles, local games, dancing competitions, and dramatic performances. They also had a feel of Lagos as they paid a courtesy visitation to the CEO of AKModel Groups and cheered themselves at Dan & Den Club, Beachside, Elegushi.

It was a colourful and tense moment during the grand finale ceremony as the 30 finalists, representing different States in Nigeria, cheered their fans and the judges with their beauty and cultural outfits. The finalists took everyone back to their source with lots of thrilling dance performances and songs.

 

The event became tense as it was time for the 8 carefully selected experienced professionals from different fields to judge, decide the fate of the 30 finalists and pick the 8 title holders. The top 8 contestants of the show were decorated, Oreoluwa Bamidele as Miss Arts Etiquette, Abidemi Adegbasa as Miss Arts Natural, Oyinkansola Olatoye as Miss Arts Tourism, Oreofe Oguntola as Miss Arts Culture, Ayomiposi Balogun as Miss Arts.

 

Unity, Omotolani Adelakun as Miss Arts 2nd Runner-up, Elizabeth Adekunle as Miss Arts 1st Runner-up, and Biana Oranu was crowned Miss Arts Nigeria 2022.

 

The top eight were selected among the 30 finalists of the show based on the cumulative score of their camp ratings, voting, and judges’ decisions on the Grand-finale.

 

The winner of the maiden edition, Biana Adaeze Oranu, who represented her State of Origin at the show, Anambra, was presented with a brand new car, a year’s salary of N1 million, 200k wardrobe allowance, an all-expense-paid trip to some tourist sites in Nigeria courtesy of the sponsor Oshodi Arts Gallery, a plot of land at Lekki corridor courtesy of AKModel Groups, and an all-expense-paid trip to Malaysia courtesy of Erelu Funmi Rotiba.

 

While the runners-up go home with a cash prize of N750,000 and N250,000 respectively plus a plot of land each at the Lekki corridor courtesy of AKModel Groups, visitation to tourist destinations in Nigeria. Other title holders of the show will be receiving N20,000 each in recognition of their creativity and talents.

YouTube Hits Maureen Badejo Again, Yanks Her New Channel Opened to Defame Apostle Suleman

Barely two weeks after her two prominent YouTube channels were removed for violating electronic broadcast rules, London based VLogger, Maureen Badejo, has suffered another blow. Her newly-acquired channel called 'Maureen Badejo TV, has again been brought down by YouTube.

 

A famous televangelist and general overseer of the Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, had few months ago, complained to the Google-owned video sharing platform of Badejo’s consistent attacks on his (Suleman’s) personality and his evangelism works using YouTube platform. The man of God later approached the law court to compel YouTube including Badejo and others for redress.

 

YouTube, in a written apology tagged ‘Outcome of Investigation’ to Suleman and seen by this medium, said; “Our internal team has completed their review and have taken appropriate actions in accordance with our policies, including the removal of videos that were found to violate our community guidelines. This has resulted in the termination of the channels, GIOTV Foundation and Maureenbadejosblog TV for violating our harassment and cyber-bullying policy.

Few days after the channels were yanked, Maureen Badejo opened new one purposely to continue her unprovoked attacks on Apostle Suleman. However, sources within the OFM church said, without a fresh formal complaint either by the cleric of any of his ministers or aides, the YouTube platform, which seemed to have been following Maureen since the last event, discovered her latest misadventure and promptly removed it.

An OFM top source stated that Apostle Suleman refused to make a fuss throughout Maureen's eight-month attacks because "he is naturally a tolerant and patient man. But once he starts a battle he doesn’t let go

 

Responding on behalf of Suleman, a top OFM minister said the servant of God has always relied on the Scriptures, which says; "We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.”

Buhari: How We Got Nnamdi Kanu, Why He Won't Get Bail

 

President Muhammadu Buhari Thursday held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Great Britain on the margins of the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Kigali, Rwanda, during which he once again reiterated his resolve to respect the maximum term limit in the Nigerian Constitution.

 

The PM, obviously not quite familiar with the maximum two terms limit, had asked if President Buhari would run for office again. To which the latter responded:

 

“Another term for me? No! The first person who tried it didn’t end very well.” (General laughter).

 

On the leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, not being allowed to see his lawyers privately, the President dispelled such insinuation, saying the detained separatist was being given every opportunity under the law “to justify all the uncomplimentary things he had been saying against Nigeria in Britain.”

 

Said President Buhari: “He felt very safe in Britain, and said awful things against Nigeria. We eventually got him when he stepped out of the United Kingdom, and we sent him to court. Let him defend all that he has said there. His lawyers have access to him. Remember he jumped bail before, how are we sure he won’t do it again, if he’s admitted to bail?”

 

On the keenness expressed by the PM to help Nigeria in the area of security, the President said helping to stabilize Libya could be an initial good step, as the fall of Muammar Gadaffi after 42 years in power unleashed his armed guards on countries in the Sahel, “and they are causing havoc everywhere, as the only thing they know how to do is to shoot guns.”

 

On Boko Haram insurgency, President Buhari said there was serious effort to educate the people on the fact that only an unserious person could kill innocent people, “and say Allah Akbar (God is Great). God is justice. You can’t take innocent souls, and ascribe it to God. And the education process is working, the people now understand Boko Haram as anti-God, and not about religion.”

 

PM Johnson said he was delighted about the good news on trade between the two countries, adding that the UK was further reducing tariffs on some goods going to Nigeria.

 

He described the relationship between the countries as “very strong attachment,” adding: “I just want to be sure that we are doing enough. It’s a massive partnership for us, and we need to capitalize on it.”

 

The Prime Minister offered condolences on some recent attacks in Nigeria, particularly on churches.

 

Apostle Suleman at Holy Ghost Conference: Christianity is Warfare, Not Funfair

 

 

Christ-centered preaching is biblical, and practical. Preaching, according to Apostle Johnson Suleman, the general overseer of the Omega Fire Ministries (OFM) worldwide, should draw people to Christ by showing the world that Christ is better than the things man often places his hope in. At the OFM’s ‘Holy Ghost Conference, which was held a few days ago, the man fondly called ‘The Restoration Apostle’ suggested in his teaching that lives indeed are changed by true transformation which comes when Jesus Christ is preached intensely into people’s hearts.

 

 

A common philosophy shared by many African cultures simply states that ‘life is warfare.’ Apostle Suleman says because Christ is life, then Christianity is warfare, not funfair. This old maxim, Suleman asserts, is well attested to by the Scriptures, that man’s existence is warfare. But how does man confront warfare? He said that, though the warfare needs some sort of weapons to be executed, the weapon needed by true Christians to combat the forces militating against their well being, is spiritual weapon.

 

 

“Christians are not into physical combat. We are involved in spiritual battles. So, our weapons are spiritual. They are divine,” he declared, adding that “it is only normal that one executes a spiritual warfare with spiritual weapons, as you are expected to confront the power of darkness with physical weapons.”

 

 

His words;

 

“When you become a child of God, you have been translated from one kingdom to another kingdom. And the kingdom where you're translated from is not going to fold their hands, it will come after you‍. Christianity is not funfair, it is warfare. No good Christian is weak. The devil will come for you whether you're ready or not. Yet, having weapons is good but knowing how to deploy them effectively is better‍( Psalm 78:9).”

 

 

While cautioning Christians to be in position to really confront the power of darkness by putting on the whole armour, Apostle Suleman said “our God is a God of war. It is warfare that unveils welfare. Your welfare is in your warfare‍️. You cannot walk into the kingdom of hell without holding dangerous weapons. That is the armour. What makes you a terror to hell is when you have the understanding of how the weapons of God operate. Satan knows when you know. Satan thrives when man is ignorant and spiritually blind,” he declared, adding that, “Christians’ weapons of warfare are not only spiritual, but are also very potent. They are very strong. They are very efficient. The potency of these weapons is seen in the fact that they can pull down strongholds; cast down arguments and everything that exalts itself against the knowledge of God; it brings every evil thought into captivity. That is why Jesus Christ said to the disciples, “I am sending you out as sheep among the wolves.”

UK Police Arrest, Detain Ike Ekweremadu, Wife for Human Trafficking, Attempted Organ Harvesting!

Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, have been arrested and charged for bringing a child to the UK for organ harvesting.

It is not certain if those arrested are Nigeria’s former deputy senate president and his wife, but the description given by the UK police fits into their profile.

Confirming the arrests in a statement, the metropolitan police said the pair were charged to court on Thursday following an investigation by the force’s specialist crime team.

The police added that the investigation was launched after detectives were alerted to potential offences under modern slavery legislation in May 2022.

“Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55 (10.9.66) of Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange/facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting,” the statement reads.

“Ike Ekweremadu, 60 (12.05.62) of Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange/facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.

“They have both been remanded in custody and will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court later today.”

“A child has been safeguarded and we are working closely with partners on continued support.

“As criminal proceedings are now under way we will not be providing further details.”

INEC Refuses to Extend Voters Registration Deadline!

 

Aisha Dukku, chairperson of the house of representatives committee on electoral matters, says the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) didn’t promise to extend voter registration by 60 days.

According to Dukku, the electoral umpire has several activities on its timetable ahead of the 2023 general election which makes it not viable to extend the deadline by 60 days.

The house of representatives had asked INEC to extend the deadline by 60 days, following the June 30 closing date set by the electoral body.

Briefing journalists after plenary, Dukku said INEC didn’t agree to the request of the lower legislative chamber.

Dukku said Mahmood Yakubu, INEC chairman, only promised to “look at” the request of the lower legislative chamber.

“Part of what INEC told the house through the committee on electoral matters is that they are going to look at our request. However, whatever happens, they cannot be able to open the registration for the next 60 days because of the activities lined up before the general election,” she said.

“The registration of voters is one aspect. There are other schedules that have to be done which the chairman explained. Such include the printing of voter cards, distribution of the cards and the pasting of list of all persons registered in all 774 local governments nationwide.

“And so, it will not be possible. This is the statement— for INEC to extend for the days we requested. However, they will go back and look at their timeline and look at how possible they will be able to increase the days for registration.
